5 hurt in crash involving police car

Associated Press

Authorities say two Chicago police officers and three other people were injured when a squad car collided with another vehicle on the city's West Side.

The crash occurred late Sunday night in the Little Village neighborhood.

Fire Department Chief Joe Roccasalva (roc-uh-SAL'-va) says two officers from the squad car were taken in serious to critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, but their injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Three people in the other car were extricated and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital and St. Anthony Hospital. Two were in serious to critical condition and the third was in fair condition.

Police said they did not know if the officers were responding to an emergency call at the time of the crash.
